Most of the truck's controls and buttons have been digitized and are now part of the infotainment system. On our 75-mph highway fuel economy test route, the V-6 Ranger achieved 20 mpg. The only body style this time around is the SuperCrew crew cab, which features four doors with seating for five.
The Car and Driver Difference
Infotainment and Connectivity
A 10.1-inch infotainment display is standard but buyers with a focus on tech can upgrade to an even bigger, vertically oriented 12-inch screen.
We'd also consider the Technology package, which adds adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera system, and front parking sensors.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Entry-level Rangers come with a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder that makes 270 horsepower which, in our experience, provides ample power to hustle the mid-size truck around.
We'd go with the mid-range XLT, which offers a reasonable list of features for less. A twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6 comes on higher trims and makes 315 horsepower. Ford has incorporated several storage solutions into the Ranger's cabin, including a hidden upper glovebox in the dashboard, large door pocket cubbies, and storage located under the truck's rear seat.
Cactus Gray, Iconic Silver, and Hot Pepper Red paint colors are exiled to make room for the new Ruby Red Metallic, Desert Sand, and Marsh Gray hues.

With the V-6, the Ranger is rated for 19 mpg city and 23 mpg highway.
TEKNISK SPECIFIKATION FORD RANGER
The mid-size pickup continues to be offered only as a crew cab with a five-foot bed, but two engines are available: the standard 270-horsepower turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder and a 315-horsepower twin-turbo V-6. (The high-performance Ranger Raptor variant is on tap for buyers looking for some genuine factory-built off-road capability, but we review that model separately.) The Ranger’s exterior styling hews closely to that of the full-size F-150's, and the interior can be as spartan or luxurious as you desire, with the top-level Lariat bringing plenty of leather, tech, and entertainment features for the upcharge.
While the current Ranger is arguably the best it’s ever been, its chief rivals—including the Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, and Toyota Tacoma—have all seen similar updates recently, and buyers currently in the market will need to do their homework. Yes, it's crazy. Ford's latest Sync 4 interface runs on both and provides access to the Ranger's various controls, including a zone-lighting feature that turns on lights on the outside of the truck to light a job site or provide illumination to finish setting up camp in the dark.
Utöver fordonets bränsleeffektivitet är även körbeteende och andra icke-tekniska faktorer viktiga för fordonets faktiska bränsle-/energiförbrukning och CO2 -utsläpp. It includes desirable equipment such as LED exterior lighting, 17-inch aluminum wheels, power-folding side-view mirrors, in-dash navigation, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and a power outlet inside the truck bed.
If comfort is a priority, the Lariat offers power-adjustable leather-trimmed seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, a B&O premium sound system, and numerous additional features. As one of our favorites in its segment, the Ford Ranger has earned a spot on our Editors’ Choice list for 2025.

A Black Appearance package also becomes available. We particularly like the optional V-6 engine, as it provides strong acceleration and is worth the upcharge.
